What is Green IT?

No one sets out to harm the environment. At least not deliberately. Certainly not the small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) owner whose initial goal is simply to build a profitable business. If they do think about the environment while building that business, it is often either in their product line (i.e. they sell solar panels) or as a marketing device to bring environmentally-conscious consumers to see them instead of a competitor that isn't making a "green" claim.

The Utility Company was created with the goal of eliminating SMB waste. This waste comes from the understanding that the average SMB spends $360 per month, per employee on technology that is only 15% utilized. From a "green" perspective, this means there is a lot that can be done to lessen SMB's corporate 'carbon footprint' on the environment.

How can we do this?

With a variety of solutions including:
  • Software-as-a-Service - where a software application is delivered via the internet rather then locally from your network or desktop.
  • Remote monitoring and management - where your technology (network, desktop, security) is proactively monitored 24x7.
  • Online data back-up - where your critical corporate data is backed up and stored daily in a highly secure data center.
  • Virtualization - where infrastructure like servers and even desktops can be delivered via the internet with limited to no on-premise equipment.
  • Per minute remote helpdesk - where an end-user can contact a helpdesk and have over 90% of problems resolved remotely.
